S/4HANA Conversion
CLIENT
The client is a manufacturer of cold-rolled strip steel products with the highest quality requirements. With production and sales companies in Austria, Sweden, and the USA as well as sales subsidiaries in China and Spain, the company and its approx. 1,300 employees generate annual sales of over €300 million and export to more than 80 countries worldwide.
Main project goals
convert existing R/3 system to S/4HANA
data and structure cleanup / organizational cleanup
implement profit center accounting with document split
selective data transfer from R/3:
current year + previous year + open documents in both FICO and logistics (purchase orders, sales orders, production, ….)
entire asset accounting
Solution
The existing R/3 system is copied without data to a new database (HANA) and lifted by CNT to S/4HANA using SUM.
customizing for profit center accounting with document split, other adjustments in customizing/coding
Selective data migration together with SNP – CrystalBridge selects the data to be taken along on the basis of selection rules and then codes the data into the new structure using mapping rules defined together with the client. The data is loaded into the new system.
The “old” system remains frozen for the next few years as a one-touch system.
Important benefits
The existing system can continue to be used.
Apart from the newly defined processes, only necessary adjustments are made.
The costs are significantly lower compared to the greenfield approach.
Due to the empty shell conversion and the new data migration, all desired structural and organizational changes can be carried out (e.g., new controlling area, new operating concern, plant consolidation, …).
Only that which has been defined is transferred. The result is a clean system.
Input and contribution of CNT
entire project concept
project management and coordination with the client
system conversion
customizing
code check and partial adaptation
planning and execution of tests, dress rehearsal and go-live (cutover)
